thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies and Magotteaux say mining customers benefit from their close cooperation by optimised and cost-efficient wear parts for mining and aggregates equipment. Even faster development and introduction of high-quality wear parts with higher profitability for mining customers is now possible as the long-standing partnership, which initially started as a classic customer-supplier relationship, will now be consolidated and extended into the development of innovative wear parts with Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) technology.
The cooperation agreement “strengthens future joint research and development efforts, through shorter development times and a customer and market-focused research & development effort. Magotteaux has extensive expertise in MMC Technology for wear-resistant castings offering a longer service life and a better cost/benefit ratio. This technological lead is based on numerous patents held by the company in this area.
“By expanding our partnership with Magotteaux, we are able to offer new, innovative solutions for wear parts that help our customers improve their operational performance and reduce costs on wear parts through longer service lives, thus benefiting economically. We expect our customers to benefit from this partnership in a very tangible way within the next 12 months,” said Georg Pahlenkemper, Chief Service Officer thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies.
Sébastien Dossogne, Chief Executive Officer Magotteaux: “Magotteaux is proud to team up with a leading company like thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies and to be recognised as one of the best wear solutions manufacturers in the world. Our know how, our technologies and the dedication of our people allowed us to reach this goal. Our teams are focused on excellence and are excited to manufacture thyssenkrupp’s latest wear parts.”
The partners says the alliance of thyssenkrupp’s process expertise and Magotteaux’s manufacturing expertise will offer customers worldwide cost effective wear parts of equipment by combining their respective knowhow and IP “to offer valuable and unprecedented solutions.” The statement added: “It clearly pays off and has already achieved visible results for various customers. For example, in the development of concaves for gyratory crushers, which were developed and introduced in 2021, currently showing proof that these efforts lead to success as the wear behaviour is much better compared with standard wear parts, even under the toughest conditions.”
